Thanks to your bravery in the Galactic Wars we are once again able to wish you a magnificent Liberty Day! Finished.Helldivers celebrating Liberty Day 2016! – Competitions, Livestream, Reddit AMA It's far too much work for a game that is considered finished. You're not getting ultrawide resolutions on this game, I'm sorry. This lack of support has passed on to PC, and troubles with engine are truly hard to fix and require a lot of effort, and possibly additional funds, which Arrowhead would probably not be given from Sony. Ultrawide and 4K are not supported for games on the PS4 system, and therefore this game's engine omitted such support as well. This game is a port of a PS4 game, engine and all. Treating such exceptions would be no easy task, even with your beloved fog of war.Īnother main reason you're not getting ultrawide is the engine. Because you would now have a larger field of view, they may very well have a conflicting issue whether to spawn or not. The patrols are only a dots on your map and nothing else until you get close enough, which is when they actually spawn. Second, the game features optimizations in order to save on animation rendering and such things. This would mean that you're just watching backdrop on that fancy extra width of yours, because there's no way for one player to see where others don't when they're watching the same screen. Furthermore, this game is supposed to support couch co-op to the fullest. This introduces two large coding issues.įirst, your suggested Fog of War would be terribly buggy to implement in this type of game, which has a shared camera for all players. This does actually benefit the team in that you would be able to see patrols farther. I doubt there is anything here, because you're quite definitely not getting ultrawide support for two main reasons.įirst one is the aforementioned wider field of view compared to your teammates. They read everything that comes up, and Peon comes around once a few days to respond to you, but only if they have anything to actually add to discussion. Detection systems in twinstick shooters aren't exactly straight forward, much less in a game where one player can potentially see someone while others don't, and since the camera is shared, this would introduce a lot of room for bugs. ![]() That fog of war thing you're tossing around is confusing, it almost sounds like you think it's in the game already, which it isn't, and it's quite hard to implement in a game like this. So basically both of your "arguments" are:ġ) "I'm fine living in the past with my 16:9 1080p screen, therefore everyone else should pander to old set-ups like mine"Ģ) "In a PvE game the group will get negatively affected if you see a larger portion of the ground around you" The first one is fine in conjunction with the second and it doesn't give anyone using an ultra-widescreen any perceived "advantage" over others. I can sort of understand this from Blizzard's point of view with Heroes of the Storm where they don't want players seeing a wider angle of the game, but honestly I still think this argument is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ because there is this thing called "Fog of war" still which obscures player vision.įYI Fog of War and visible screen area are two totally different things. In a PvE game it doesn't matter what other players can or can't see, it makes NO difference to the game experience, apart from providing a negative experience for those whose aspect ratios are not properly supported. and Diablo 3 came out in 2012 - 4 years - that argument isn't even an argument, it's a completely incorrect perception. Diablo 3 or Just Cause 3 as examples I can think of. Yes I can live with it having black bars down the sides because I enjoy this game, but almost every game these days works fine on 21:9. 21:9 is a huge growing trend and most games these days support it just fine. Just take a look at the monitor market last year. I'm glad that YOU find 16:9 ratio perfect for gaming since your monitor is 16:9, but since my monitor is 21:9 I do NOT find it perfect for gaming and others who use ultra-widescreens do not find it "perfect" either.
